Case Study: Emotional Resilience

Case Study 15

Emotional Resilience
(The Open University)

Staff and students at the Open University worked together to create a toolkit for students, staff and senior leaders on how to teach and learn potentially distressing curriculum content.

The toolkit contains:
• Videos from students, teachers, researchers and mental health practitioners
• Guidance for students on studying potentially distressing content
• Guidance for teachers on teaching potentially distressing content
• An example of a holistic approach to trigger/content warnings
• A student-led podcast on the key impacts, strategies and
benefits of teaching and learning sensitive content, as well as what a duty of care for educators and students could look like.

All resources were co-created with students, and can be found at Emotional resilience Guidance and resources for studying potentially distressing content.
