Principle Three: Embedded skills and attributes

Principle Three:

Embedded skills and attributes

Embedding and facilitating the skills and attributes within the curriculum that are required of graduates to participate in a diverse and evolving society, study and working environments.

Like Principle Two, Principle Three is focussed on the ‘what’ of curriculum development, this time focusing on the skills and attributes which students develop.

As our world and societies evolve, it is essential that students are equipped to fully participate in diverse, global, and values-driven environments. This includes equipping them with the skills to manage their learning and wellbeing, to learn from others, and to treat others with respect and care.

Principle Three encourages practitioners to:

  • Embed a growth mindset, resilience, and wellbeing
  • Invite diverse role models to the learning environment
  • Adopt a graded approach to challenging skills
  • Ensure students develop EDI-related skills.
